»What is a Doula?
The word Doula is a Greek word meaning “women’s servant.” A Doula is a trained labor support professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother and her partner before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
“If a doula were a drug it would be unethical not to use it.”
— Dr. John Kennell
»Confident Birth Discovery Meeting
Our free initial meeting is 45-60 minutes long for you and your birth partner. Share your hopes and desires for your upcoming birth as we get to know each other. This is a time for you to gather information to see if I am the best fit to support you during labor and birth.
I provide two prenatal visits, unlimited phone/email support, in-person labor and birth support, and one postnatal visit.
Discuss your birth preferences, fears and concerns. Review comfort techniques and positions for labor. Receive help with creating your birth plan if you need it.
»Labor and Birth
I am on call 24 hours a day starting three weeks before your Estimated Due Date until the birth of your baby. I provide emotional and physical support to women and their partners throughout labor and birth. I remain with you until about 1 hour after your baby is born.
For your post-birth support, five to ten days after your birth, I will visit to see how you and your baby are doing and answer any questions you have.
